Silkoroi, known across Chattogram and many other regions of Bangladesh, is used as a medium-grade timber. Its scientific name is Albizia lebbeck. Silkoroi wood is usually light brown to light grey in color, with medium, somewhat irregular grain. Being relatively lightweight and easy to work, it is used for furniture, doors, windows, and general structural work.
It grows fast and is easily available, making Silkoroi an economical choice in the local timber industry. However, since it is not highly durable, extra care is needed when using it for exterior work.
