Purple Heart is known as an exotic, high-value hardwood from Central and South America. Its scientific name is Peltogyne spp. The wood is found mainly in Brazil, Suriname, Guyana, Mexico, and neighboring regions, and is used in decorative furniture, premium door panels, flooring, staircases, CNC carving, and high-end woodwork. The wood's most remarkable feature is its natural purple color. Freshly cut, it appears light brown, but with exposure to air and light it gradually turns a deep purple. Purple Heart is comparatively dense and strong, and its natural compounds give it good resistance against decay, fungus, and termites.
